On the roof of the world, breathing in the spirituality of ancient monasteries and their people, among kora, sacred mountains, blue skies, high altitudes and rarefied air, blue green and turquoise salt lakes. Crossing yaks, sheep, cows and antelopes, and chasing rivers that, blessed, flow silently through landscapes of rare and infinite beauty.
The Tibetans, the greatest discovery of this land, not easy but unique, with their kindness, their attention and care, the smiles and the musicality of their speech, which will remain to me certainly incomprehensible but still in the heart for its wonderful sweetness.
Special thanks to Lhamo and our driver who accompanied us on this journey to discover a unique culture🕉🪷♥️

I booked this tour because of its great recommendations online and the fact that it is a Tibetan-run tour company. Woeser was so responsive to my inquiries and helped me book the tour. We booked an 8-day Tibetan tour, which included Lhasa, Shigatse, and a night at Everest base camp (EBC). I wasn't really interested in going to EBC but Woeser strongly recommended it. In addition, he was able to find some other travelers for me and my daughter to join on the tour to reduce the cost so I agreed. While we were able to see a beautiful view of Everest at sunset once the clouds magically cleared, I think in retrospect that I would have preferred skipping Everest and doing a home stay or visiting other places in Tibet. I really enjoyed the accommodations in Lhasa at Shambala palace - beautiful room and a great location from which to wander around while not being noisy. Pema, our guide, had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Loved our Tibet trip and thank you very much RoadToTibet!

It’s hard to put into words what these past few weeks in Tibet have meant to us, but if you’re even thinking about doing this — stop thinking and go.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted so warmly by Pema and Jensen, who truly made this journey what it was. Pema, our guide and now our dear dharma friend, brought such depth, wisdom, and compassion to every step of the way. His knowledge of the land, culture, and spiritual traditions added layers of meaning we’ll be unpacking for a long time. He’s one of the kindest, most grounded and insightful people we’ve ever traveled with — an absolute gem.
Jensen was the quiet strength of the trip — always calm, always kind-hearted, and such a careful, reliable driver on some long mountain drive. He made us feel safe, supported, and taken care of from start to finish.
We journeyed through some of the most breathtaking places on earth — from ancient monasteries to vast mountain passes — culminating in the Kailash Kora, which was probably the most physically and spiritually powerful experience of our lives. It wasn’t easy, but it was real, raw, and deeply transformative.
The landscapes were surreal: endless skies, glacial lakes, snowy peaks, wild yaks, prayer flags, etc, but it was the people who made it. Our guides and the warmth of local Tibetans along the way. We laughed, hiked, reflected, and somehow found parts of ourselves we didn’t know were missing.
We came for an adventure. We left with so much more — awe, insight, connection, and stories we’ll be telling for the rest of our lives.
Endless thanks to Pema, Jensen, and Woeser 🙏 You created something rare, real, and unforgettable. We will carry it with us always.

After travelling the Lhasa to Kathmandu road some years ago, I planned a private tour to Kailash, Guge and the northern plains. Amongst the few tour operators who answered by request, Woeser from Road to Tibet was the one who replied first and responded best to my sometimes quite specific requests. Together we set up a very comprehensive and individual itinerary that covered all important monasteries and all natural Highlights.
Woeser always answered my question promptly, and the management of the trip was excellent, which probably means a lot of hard work in the background, for example, he booked the sleeper train ticket to Lhasa, when I realized I could not get it from abroad. At Lhasa train station I met Tenzin, my guide for the tour, first we spent together two days in Lhasa and then we headed to the countryside. Tenzin had a profound knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism; he explained diligently the meaning and the history of the different places we visited and could answer any question I had. This way I saw and understood much more than during my first trip.
The transfers and organization of the daily living were excellent, our driver was reliable, always on time and had excellent knowledge of the country, and together they found great eating locations even in the most remote areas. But most importantly, they were extremely flexible and arranged some excellent side trips on backcountry roads, e.g., to Tangra Yumtso and the north shore of Nam Tso. This definitely was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I can only highly recommend Road to Tibet because of the excellent management and their genuine desire to make the trip most pleasant and memorable for you.

I booked an 8-day solo trip through Tibet with Road to Tibet, focused on cultural and historical landmarks. The whole experience was excellent — well-organized, flexible, and tailored to exactly what I was looking for.
Woeser helped design the itinerary and offered great advice, striking a balance between must-see sites and quieter, less-touristed spots. Everything was handled efficiently, which made the trip feel smooth and low-stress.
The real standout was my guide, Jamyang. Exceptionally knowledgeable about Tibetan history and Buddhism, he added layers of meaning to each place we visited. More than that, we had long, engaging conversations that touched on philosophy, culture, and daily life in Tibet. Traveling solo, I found that kind of depth and exchange incredibly rewarding — it turned what could have been a sightseeing tour into something far more meaningful.
Trinley, our driver, was steady and professional throughout — no complaints there.
If you’re interested in more than just ticking boxes — if you want real context, thoughtful pacing, and insightful conversation — I’d definitely recommend Road to Tibet.

Traveling with Road to Tibet was far more than a tour; it was a sacred journey and a profound experience. This trip was deeply personal: my son and I were bringing my mother’s ashes to rest in the places she held sacred. Though it was our first time in Tibet, I had grown up hearing about this land, as my mother had visited countless times, and through this journey, I felt I was finally able to connect with my mother’s spirit and experience the places she loved.
Before we even arrived, Woeser made sure that every detail was in place and guided us carefully toward our destination with great care and thoughtfulness.
From the moment we arrived, the team at Road to Tibet treated our mission with such respect, compassion, and care. Our guide, Tashi, was incredibly knowledgeable, gentle, and deeply intuitive, sharing insights into the culture, land, and spiritual traditions with grace and warmth. One of the most touching moments was when he personally built a small stupa to honour my mother at one of the sites where we laid her ashes to rest. That gesture will stay with me forever.
I also spent my birthday over there and whilst I am not vey big n birthday celebrations both Tashi and Tenzin made my birthday feel special and seen and gave me gifts and sweet gestures which I was not expecting at all and was so terribly sweet it almost bright a tear to my eye.
When no porters were available, both our guide and our driver, Tenzin, kindly and generously stepped in without hesitation, carrying bags and helping us through high-altitude terrain. We were a group of 3 of various ages, from 18 to 70, and they were so generous, accommodating and graceful for the various needs our group had. They went far above and beyond, and their presence made us feel supported, safe and welcome every step of the way.
I can’t recommend Road to Tibet highly enough! They took care of us at each and every single step of the way, from our organiser Woeser to our guide Tashi to our driver Tenzin; each of them made us feel extremely safe, welcome, informed and looked after not only for their professionalism and deep local knowledge but for the kindness humanity and heart and grace they brought to everything they did for us.
I’m already dreaming of returning and am mapping out my next adventure, and I will absolutely travel with them again! They are just some of the most lovely people I have met while travelling in my life period. To have them guide us through this was just a huge blessing for which I am eternally grateful. Thank you for helping us complete such an important and heartfelt journey with love, dignity, and kindness.
